Old Channel Bay is a significant geographical feature located in the eastern part of Carmans Bay on Lake Minnetonka, situated north of Tonka Bay & Excelsior in Hennepin County. The name "Old Channel Bay" designates the specific area of the lake where the original channel was dredged through the land for this purpose. Before the construction of the Narrows Channel Bridge, access to the Lower Lake was made via the northeastern section of Carmans Bay, where Old Channel Bay is now identified on newer maps.

This change in nomenclature has led to some confusion and discussion, as the older maps primarily refer to the entire north and northeast parts of the upper lake shore as Carmans Bay.

While the exact time and the individuals responsible for officially renaming this area to "Old Channel Bay" remain a mystery, the historical significance of its role in Lake Minnetonka's connectivity is acknowledged by the community and recognized on highway signs and contemporary maps.
