Friday Activities - A Day of Cruising and Learning

The Rendezvous kicks off on Friday, starting at 9:00 am with a captain's meeting at Lord Fletcher's docks. Boaters will embark on a morning cruise in their own classic boats, followed by a delightful lunch at Al & Alma's. The highlight of the luncheon will be a special presentation by Melinda Nelson, the author of "The Boathouses of Lake Minnetonka," who will share insights into the rich history of boathouses on the lake. For those arriving by car, Al & Alma's address is 5201 Piper Road, Mound, MN.

The cruise is open to all and free to join, while the luncheon has a nominal charge of $25 per person. Following lunch, participants will continue their exploration of Lake Minnetonka before returning to Lord Fletcher's for the highly anticipated Rendezvous Dinner. Social hour commences at 5:00 pm, with dinner being served at 7:00 pm.

Participants can conveniently leave their boats at the docks overnight on Friday, thanks to arrangements made with Lord Fletcher's. However, please note that there is no overnight trailer parking available.

Saturday Activities - Boat Show Extravaganza

Saturday promises an exhilarating boat show on Lord Fletcher's docks. Boat owners are encouraged to launch their vessels and arrive at Lord Fletcher's by 8:00 am. The boat show officially opens its doors at 9:00 am and continues until 3:00 pm, with awards ceremony scheduled for 2:30 pm. Boat owners are encouraged to keep their vessels at the dock until the end of the show, ensuring late-arriving spectators have plenty to admire.

How You Can Contribute - Spreading the Joy of Vintage Boating

The event organizers encourage participants and boat owners to share the fun and camaraderie of vintage boating and the benefits of club membership with spectators. There exists a general misunderstanding among the public about the cost and upkeep associated with vintage boats. Therefore, this year's focus is on outreach to publications and television stations to promote the accessibility and enjoyment of the hobby.

For those willing to contribute to the event's success, volunteers are sought to offer short boat rides to individuals interested in the hobby. While maintaining a full dock for the show is essential, a few volunteers are needed to provide these informal boat rides. Those interested in volunteering or assisting in any aspect of the event can contact Scott McClelland at Rendezvous@lolcbc.org.
