Opened for settlement in 1872, Minnetonka Beach is one of the smallest communities in the State of Minnesota. Is is bordered primarily by Orono and Spring Park by land, and Crystal Bay, Lafayette Bay, Smiths Bay and Lower Lake North by sea. Other nearby areas include Tonka Bay and Big Island. Minnetonka Beach is also home to the Lafayette Country Club, a 9 hole golf course and event center that traces it's roots back to railroad magnate James J. Hill.
