Halsted Bay

Hasted Bay is the westernmost bay on Lake Minnetonka and is located in the City of Minnestrista. It is named after the the reclusive Captain Frank William Halsted, and his brother George who are well known for operating the Hermitage. Minneapolis Tribune stories in the late 1890's altered the spelling of the Halsted brothers by including an extra "a" -- Halstead -- and that tradition lives on as the name is commonly misspelled or spelled correctly depending on your point of view. Google reinforces that tradition by regularly suggesting the alternate spelling of Halsted or Halstead depending on which you have entered into a browser.
