Gideon Bay Lake Minnetonka

Named after Peter Gideon, who purchase a 160-acre lot to grow "Wealthy" apples, named after his wife. Gideon grew apples until 1863, when a drought devastated the apple trees. In 1879, the Lake Park Hotel was built by the Northwestern Sunday school Association. Today the area is home to Tonka Bay Marina, a commercial marina operator with boat slips, dry stack storage, service and a restaurant.
