Upper Minnetonka Sailing School

Upper Minnetonka Sailing School provides adult sailing instruction from Enchanted Island in Shorewood. It is based at Upper Minnetonka Yacht Club, 4580 Enchanted Point, on the Upper Lake.

Adult lessons on the Upper Lake

The school teaches aboard keel-weighted sailboats and offers American Sailing Association classes. For an adult beginning to sail, this provides a different learning setting from a children's dinghy camp: instruction aboard a larger boat, with an emphasis on handling the boat and building practical skills.

Discuss your experience and goals with the school before choosing a class. Confirm the current course, certification requirements and schedule directly rather than assuming every offering suits a complete beginner.

Nearby communities and sailing

For continued access to sailboats after instruction, explore Westonka Sailing. The nearby club community can make the transition from lessons to regular sailing more practical for residents of Shorewood and the western lake communities.
